Toni Moss on Her New Role at WDS
We sat down with Toni to hear her thoughts on joining WDS and her plans for shaping the HR function in this exciting new chapter:
What inspired you to take on the HR Manager role at WDS?
I was really attracted to the mix of strategic and operational requirements in the role. I love being hands-on, and I’m looking forward to working closely with employees. WDS is a forward-thinking organisation, and I’m excited about helping make it an even better place to work. As this is a brand-new role, there’s a fantastic opportunity for me to make a big difference by supporting managers and employees to achieve their best.
How do you plan to shape WDS’s HR strategy as it transitions to an in-house function?
My aim is to build and implement HR strategies that align with WDS’s purpose, vision, mission, and values. HR is about creating a positive and inclusive work culture, which boosts employee engagement, retention, and performance. Bringing the HR function in-house allows us to tailor it specifically to WDS’s needs, ensuring employees and managers have direct access to support—whether for small queries or more challenging situations.
What are your priorities in supporting WDS employees during this period of growth?
My first priority is meeting employees and managers so that everyone becomes familiar with me. I want to be a trusted sounding board where ideas can be shared openly. I’ll also focus on helping employees and managers achieve their objectives while ensuring we remain safe, compliant, and aligned with our goals.
How do you see HR playing a role in the future success of WDS?
HR holds a pivotal role in ensuring an organisation has the right skillsets and motivated employees. At WDS, this means anticipating future talent needs, building a strong pipeline, supporting employee development, and fostering engagement. HR also plays a key part in managing change, ensuring compliance, and scanning the horizon for risks and opportunities, all of which are critical to navigating challenges and driving success.
What can the WDS team expect from you as their HR Manager?
I’m open, honest, and straightforward. I’m calm in a crisis and always focused on finding solutions. My door is always open, and I pride myself on being approachable. I also have a sense of humour—but fair warning, I do tend to laugh at my own jokes!
What unique perspectives or skills do you bring to WDS that will benefit both employees and clients?
Having worked in diverse industries—from global insurance and manufacturing to supply chain and distribution—I bring a depth of knowledge and adaptability. My experience enables me to understand different business models and employee needs, which will help us create a supportive, inclusive environment that benefits both employees and clients.
What excites you most about being part of the WDS team?
The sky is the limit. I’m excited about shaping the future of HR at WDS and transforming the employee experience across their entire career. Collaborating with teams and fostering a development mindset will help everyone bring their best to work, deliver exceptional service to clients, and create a positive, thriving culture.
