About Tim
I started working in audit in 2014, qualifying as a chartered accountant (ACA) in 2017, whilst working for a small practice in the South East. Since then, I’ve worked at firms of various sizes, working with both corporate and not-for-profit clients. My work has involved statutory audits and other assurance engagements, building a broad range of experience along the way.
Interview Questions
Q1. What motivated you to join WDS?
A1. The opportunity to take ownership of the firm’s audit function and ensure it runs as efficiently as possible, simultaneously providing client service and giving staff the training opportunities offered by working in audit. I met 3 of the firm’s partners and a senior manager during the interview process, getting on well with all of them, and felt like I had something to offer.
Q2. What do you hope to accomplish in your role as Senior Audit Manager?
A2. Initially, I think there are some easy wins regarding the efficiency of the firm’s audit function to ensure client service is maximised. Going forward, there are significant growth opportunities for audit as many small firms are electing not to renew their licences to practice. I am also starting to work towards the becoming an RI and being able to sign audit reports myself.
Q3. How do you envision the future of audit services at WDS?
A3. A high-quality, efficient audit and assurance service that clients can see the benefits of, rather than it just being a legal requirement that must be tolerated each year. If the audit service line grows as I hope it will, I hope to ultimately have a group of audit-specific staff in place within the company.
Q4. What benefit will our clients receive from knowing you?
A4. My experience is broad, and I can therefore offer advice on improving systems & controls to our clients no matter their industry. Expectations on both sides of the auditor-client relationship will be set well in advance of the audit so that the process can run as smoothly as possible.
Tim’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for WDS’s audit services. His expertise and leadership will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and quality of our audit function, delivering measurable benefits to our clients and supporting the growth of our team. We look forward to seeing Tim’s impact on our audit services and the value he brings to our clients and the firm. Please join us in welcoming Tim Bennet to the WDS family!
