WDS Celebrates Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employer Award—Two Years in a Row

For the second consecutive year, WDS has been recognised as one of the Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers in the UK, proudly placing 31st on the 2025 list.

Today, our Director Kim Mawer represented WDS at a special reception inside the House of Lords in London, where she accepted our official certificate and joined fellow employers in celebrating the positive impact of apprenticeships nationwide.

This was an amazing event. It was great to network with such a diverse mix of employers and apprenticeship providers. Very proud to be there representing WDS and seeing that even smaller employers like us really can make a difference and provide these career paths and opportunities.” – Kim Mawer Director & Equity Partner WDS

Why This Matters

This repeat recognition reflects our long-term commitment to developing new talent and providing structured, high-quality training opportunities in accountancy.
Apprenticeships are not just an entry route into the profession—they’re a key part of how we grow as a business and how we invest in the next generation of professionals.

At WDS, apprentices work alongside experienced accountants from day one, gaining real client experience while earning professional qualifications.
Many of our past apprentices now hold senior positions within the firm, demonstrating the effectiveness of this pathway in supporting lasting careers.

Celebrating with Industry Leaders

The House of Lords event brought together senior figures from government, education, and business to share success stories and ideas for the future of apprenticeship programmes.
The agenda included presentations from key apprenticeship champions and industry leaders, such as Higherin and Skills of England, .

Thank You to Our Team and Apprentices

This award belongs to everyone at WDS.
From the managers who mentor our apprentices to the colleagues who create a supportive environment, and of course to the apprentices themselves—past and present—your hard work and dedication make achievements like this possible.

We’re proud to see our efforts recognised on a national stage for the second year running, and we remain committed to expanding and improving our apprenticeship programme in the years ahead.
