At WDS, the Quarterly Recognition Award exists for one simple reason — to make sure the people who quietly make everything work don’t go unnoticed.
This quarter, that person is Kieran Holmes.
Kieran works out of our Huddersfield office, and if you’ve worked alongside him recently, none of this will come as a surprise. Over the past few months, Kieran has been the kind of colleague who makes a team better without making a fuss about it — taking on more, stepping up when it counted, and thinking about the people around him as much as his own workload.
He didn’t wait to be asked
The thing that stood out most in Kieran’s nominations wasn’t any single achievement — it was his instinct to act. Rather than waiting for direction, he was the one flagging deadlines, reminding colleagues which accounts needed attention, and making sure slow client payments didn’t become someone else’s problem. That kind of initiative is harder to teach than any technical skill.
On the debt collection side, his efforts helped reduce outstanding end column debtors by over £20,000 this year. A number that reflects a lot of quiet, consistent work behind the scenes.
Thinking ahead
With holiday leave coming up, Kieran didn’t just flag the gap — he planned around it, making sure work was handed across to ease pressure on the team while he was away. Small thing, maybe. But it’s the kind of thoughtfulness that tells you a lot about someone.
Looking further forward
Beyond the day-to-day, Kieran attended his first professional networking event this quarter — a genuine milestone, and a sign of someone investing in where they’re headed, not just where they are. He’s also requested support to continue his studies toward becoming a Chartered Accountant.
The ambition has always been there. Now it’s starting to show.
Well done, Kieran
Two colleagues nominated Kieran independently, and reading both nominations it’s clear they were describing the same person: reliable, proactive, and genuinely invested in the team doing well.
That’s what this award is for. Congratulations, Kieran — it’s well deserved.
